Identity theft is someone pretending to be you in order to commit fraud. It could be making charges with your credit card, opening a new credit card in your name without you knowing it, hijacking your tax refund, the list goes on. As more and more of our lives move online it can be overwhelming to try and control all the places your personal information ends up.

So what can you do to protect yourself? We recommend protecting your personal information as much as possible, monitoring your accounts and credit regularly so you can spot issues early, and making it hard for identity thieves to abuse your credit if they do get your information.
