Why “Secret” Tax Hacks Usually Backfire
Taxes are notoriously complex, which makes it easy for misinformation to spread. Every year, new “strategies” circulate claiming they can drastically reduce or even eliminate what you owe. Usually, these are born from a simple misunderstanding of tax law, though some are outright fabrications.
While some of these claims might sound like a dream come true, falling for them can lead to expensive penalties and a massive headache to correct with the IRS. Before you try a “secret” trick to erase your tax bill, make sure you aren’t falling for one of these common myths.
Heads up! On March 31, we are launching a new website and moving the BrightDime application to a dedicated new home at app.brightdime.com.
What this means for you: Your daily workflow won’t change a bit, but the web address you see in the address bar when you log into your BrightDime account will. Instead of www.brightdime.com you’ll use app.brightdime.com.
What you need to do: Not much. You should update any bookmarks or password managers, but if you go to the old links you should be automatically forwarded. Password managers won’t recognize the new login page so you will need to update those to recognize the new login page at app.brightdime.com/login instead of www.brightdime.com/login.
