Happy New Year from BrightDime!

We want everyone to clearly visualize (like 20/20 vision, get it?) and plan a year of financial success so we’re starting a short series about “Organizing Your Financial Life” to get you moving. Getting your money and finances organized is more than just paying your bills on time. It’s about building healthy financial habits that will last. Beginning next week, we’ll kick off our getting organized series that includes planning and automating, tracking accounts, and safe keeping for important documents.

We also wanted to remind you about the upcoming deadline for filing a settlement claim related to the EquiFax Breach. If eligible, you can file a claim for up to ten free years of credit monitoring or $125* if you already have credit monitoring. A quick refresher on the facts:

– EquiFax announced in September 2017 that they had exposed the private data of 147 million people.

– EquiFax reached a settlement in July 2019 of approximately $425 million available to help individuals who were affected.

The deadline for submitting a claim is January 22, 2020 for current losses and time spent.

– The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has a website here https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/cases-proceedings/refunds/equifax-data-breach-settlement with more information, including a link to an eligibility checker and other resources. We strongly suggest starting here for anything you do related to the Equifax settlement to avoid potential scams.

If you have more questions about the Equifax breach or what you should do if you qualify for a claim, just chat with one of our financial coaches.

*Due to the large number of potential claims, this number could be substantially less.
